Do you operate surf lessons all year?
Yes! We are lucky in Tofino to be able to surf all year round; there are many beaches in the area that provide small 'ideal' learning waves even during large wave conditions. We also have excellent, warm winter wetsuits produced by O'Neill.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
No! wetsuits provide bouyancy, as do the surfboards that are attached to participants at all times when in the water. Also we will never take any participant into a water depth that they feel uncomfortable in. It is important, however, that you are comfortable in the ocean.
Where do we meet for our surf lesson?
All participants are asked to meet us at our shop 30mins prior to the lesson time.
What beach are your lessons held at?
We assess the surf conditions twice daily to ensure we are providing the best conditions for the ability of our group - therefore lesson locations are subject to change. However we will always teach at one of the following locations: Long Beach, Chesterman's Beach or Cox Bay.
Is all the necessary equipment included in the cost of the lesson?
Yes! we supply everyone with high quality, warm, flexible surfing wetsuits by O'Neill, we also supply everyone with 'Soft-Top' longboards.
The only things you need to supply is a smile, enthusiasm, a bathing suit and your own transportation.
Accolades

"My girlfriend and I took a surfing lesson on Friday the 16th and I would just like to say that we had a great time. We shopped at all the different surf-shops in Tofino and we are glad that we finally decided on Pacific Surf School. Our favorite part was the amount of time that we got to stay in the water and practice. I took a surf lesson in Hawaii a couple of summers ago and it was about 2.5 hrs of the teacher talking and about 30 mins of real practice. Thanks for a great time."

"Speaking for the Oncology/Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Program at BC Children's Hospital I want to thank Pacific Surf School for helping us to make our 2005 surf trip to Tofino such a success. Ten teens with a history of cancer or blood disorders and four staff took part in 'Teen Adventures/A Spirit Quest.'. We had four wonderful days of excitement spectacular scenery and goodwill."

"A few hardy souls trade stories around the campfire late into the night, but most of us choose to retire to the tents relatively early. Exhausted and lulled by the crash of ocean waves, sleep comes quickly."
